Oh Honey, comprised of singer/songwriters Mitchy Collins (guitar & vocals) and Danni Bouchard (vocals), began making music in 2013 after mutual friends introduced them in the musical hotbed of Brooklyn. Mitchy had been working as a songwriter and producer when he had the idea to create a male/female duo. He met Danni shortly after she graduated from Pace University (NYC), where she studied acting and music. Once in the studio together the chemistry became instantly apparent, and the music began to flow.
Soon after teaming up, Mitchy and Danni began the search for a band name. One day, while watching an episode of How I Met Your Mother, inspiration struck both of them. “We watched the show and kept hearing the phrase ‘Ohhhh honey,’ and thought it would be a good band name, and it kinda just stuck!” Mitchy says of the episode, guest-starring Katy Perry, who they both love.
While reflecting upon their influences, Mitchy and Danni aren’t shy to draw from everyday life. “We aim to create positive, uplifting songs that chronicle real experiences— an optimistic twist on the heavier parts of life,” Danni explains. That sunny disposition has helped Oh Honey attract a wide array of exposure in film and television, with prominent features in episodes of Glee and Red Band Society, the film Hundred Foot Journey, and trailers for Finding Dory and Me Before You
